Nutrition labelling

Nutrition labelling provides information about the nutritional composition of the food, its energy value and amount of nutrients. Nutrition labelling enables consumers to compare different products and choose foodstuffs according to their own needs.

Nutrition labelling is optional for the food producers, but becomes compulsory, if a nutrition claim is made concerning the nutrients contained in the food. Nutrition labelling is also required if a health claim is made on the food or if the food is supplemented with vitamins or minerals, or is intended for some particular dietary use.
