In this section you will find information about the monitoring of plant production and animal feeds. The purpose of the monitoring is to ensure the quality of plant production and animal feeds.
25.08.2010 - 08:52 - Strong air currents may have carried Colorado beetles to almost anywhere in Finland, including the most important potato farming areas on the west coast and the entire region of Ostrobothnia. So far only one observation of Colorado beetles has been reported, on 2 August in Parikkala.
28.07.2010 - 12:08 - So far, no observations of Colorado beetles have been reported to the Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira this year. The plant protection inspectors of Evira and the ELY Centres are carrying out inspections in potato fields in southern and eastern Finland. It is of prime importance that potato-growers and home gardeners actively check their potato crops for Colorado beetles and that they report any findings immediately to the plant protection authorities.
20.07.2010 - 12:09 - The regulatory inspections of cattle farms, started after the Salmonella Typhimurium –bacterium was found in the feed manufacturing process of Rehuraisio on week 25, have now been completed. All the farms were found to be free from salmonella.
15.07.2010 - 14:46 - Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira has this year found live pine wood nematodes in the wooden packaging material of three batches of goods originating from the United States. This dangerous pathogen of pine forests is in Europe endemic only to Portugal. It is not prevalent in Finnish forests.
05.07.2010 - 09:32 - Wild oats usually develop panicles in Southern and Western Finland at the beginning of July. Finding the first plants is the best and most inexpensive form of preventative control. The fields have to be checked even if chemical control measures have been implemented.
