Forestry

The Act on Trade in Forest Reproductive Material is enforced by the Plant Health Unit of Evira, the Finnish Food Safety Authority.

Forest reproductive material refers to the cones, seeds, parts of plants and planting stock of tree species key to forestry.

The aforementioned tree species are listed in Annex I of the Council Directive 1999/105/EC.

The aim of supervision is to ensure:
• the high quality of basic material used for producing forest reproductive material
• the compliance of seeds and seedlings on the market
• that buyers gain the necessary information in support of selecting material suitable for a specific purpose.
