Plant pests and diseases

This website contains information on quarantine pests and diseases and the control exercised in preventing their spread. Quarantine pests and diseases are defined as such under legislation and are difficult to prevent. They cause considerable damage to production in agriculture, forestry and horticulture. Information on plant diseases and pests not classified as quarantine pests is available on other websites (see links to the right).

Finland, as a member of European Union, implements the EU plant health legislation according to the Council Directive 2000/29/EC. The Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira is the national plant health authority.
