The publication presents average values of the grain quality by grain, variety and region. The quality factors include, among others, hectolitre weight, grain size, protein content, falling number and wet gluten.
Quality monitoring of crop is based on samples sent in by farmers. The farms taking part in the monitoring are selected randomly from the Farm Register of the Information Centre of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. In 2011 the farms sent in a total of 989 samples. The quality of the grain harvest has been monitored since 1966.
Evira’s website presents further information about the grain crop quality. The tables set out, for example, the number of samples per category and region according to different quality factors.
