Garden plant propagation material

Many garden plants are hosts to quarantine pests or diseases. Most quarantine pests and diseases spread via plant propagation material. Ensuring that plant propagation material is free of pests is therefore the most important way to prevent their spread in garden production.

Plant propagation material offered for sale must not carry quarantine pests or diseases or other pests or diseases. In addition, plant propagation material must comply with the quality requirements specified in the Plant Propagation Material Act.

To ensure traceability, plant passport and supplier’s document labelling is used in plant propagation material. Sellers, wholesalers and suppliers of plant propagation material are obliged to register with Evira’s plant health and propagation material register.
