Research Seminar, 11 December 2018: Can inflammatory marker testing help improve calf growth and wellbeing?
Senior Researcher Leena Seppä-Lassila, DVM, Risk Assessment Research Unit of the Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira, will discuss her dissertation, which concerns inflammatory diseases in calves.
Her presentation focuses on what can be revealed by testing of inflammatory markers (acute phase proteins) in calves and how this information can be used in practice. Increased concentrations of acute phase proteins in calves - fibrinogen, haptoglobin, serum amyloid A - have been associated with respiratory tract infections in particular. The dissertation sought to determine potential other uses of acute phase protein measurements.
The research seminar will be held in Viikki, Helsinki, at the Evira House, Mustialankatu 3, Hall C111,
from 3pm to 4pm on Tuesday, 11 December 2018.
The seminar is open to all and does not require preliminary enrolment.
The seminar is in Finnish.
