Control of forest reproductive material
The purpose of enforcing the Act on Trade in Forest Reproductive Material (241/2002) is to ensure
- the high quality of basic material used for producing forest reproductive material
- the compliance of marketed seeds and seedlings
- that buyers gain the necessary information in support of selecting material suitable for a specific purpose.
Moreover, it is ensured that the registration obligations of forest reproductive material producers who require plant passports are met. It is also ensured that marketed lots of forest tree seedlings are marked with plant passport markings compliant with the regulations in force, as per the Act on Protecting Plant Health (702/2003).
