IMPORT OF PLANTS FROM NON-EU COUNTRIES

Import requirements and restrictions apply to the import of plants from non-EU countries, in order to prevent plant diseases and pests from spreading alongside imported shipments. Requirements vary per plant species, product and country of origin. The import of certain plant species from non-EU countries is prohibited. Importers must find out about import requirements and restrictions well in advance of importing goods.

A phytosanitary certificate is required for all plant propagation material, potted plants and some cut flowers imported to Finland from non-EU countries. The import of products requiring a phytosanitary certificate is only permitted through specified points of entry; shipments will be inspected before the importer may use them. Importers of products requiring a phytosanitary certificate must be registered with Evira’s plant health register.
