Trade in the EU internal market of forest reproductive material
When forest reproductive material is marketed from Finland to another EU member state, the supplier of the material must submit a notification to Evira on the lot sold, using the form available in the MEVI information system. Evira must submit the form to the competent authority of the country in question, no later than three months from the date on which the forest reproductive material was sent by the supplier.
Correspondingly, Evira receives information, on a standard form, regarding material imported to Finland from other member countries. This information is entered in the MEVI information system, for review by the recipient of the material. On the basis of this information, the origin of seedlings marketed to Finland, and their suitability for Finnish conditions, can be monitored.
Based on the information received, Evira compiles statistics on trade in seeds and seedlings between Finland and other EU member states.
