An application has been made for authorization to place on the market for food and feed uses, food and feed containing, consisting of or produced from the genetically modified maize 59122.The scope of the application does not include cultivation. The genetically modified maize 59122 has been developed to tolerate certain coleopteran pests such as the western corn rootworm larvae and to tolerate glufosinate herbicide.
The European Commission makes its draft resolution about allowing the GM maize 59122 onto the market, taking into consideration amongst other things the opinion of EFSA and comments from the public. The opinion is found in its entirety on the EFSA Internet page, where documents related to the opinion are also published. http://www.efsa.europa.eu/en/science/gmo/gm_ff_applications/more_info/809.html
