The opinion of EFSA was published on 20.12.2006
An application has been made for authorization to place on the market food and feed produced from the genetically modified sugar beet H7-1 or containing ingredients produced from it. The scope of the application does not include cultivation. The genetically modified sugar beet H7-1 has been developed for tolerance to glyphosate containing herbicides.
The European Commission makes its draft resolution about allowing the GM sugar beet onto the market, taking into consideration amongst other things the opinion of EFSA and comments from the public. The opinion is found in its entirety on the EFSA Internet page, where documents related to the opinion are also published. http://www.efsa.europa.eu/en/science/gmo/gm_ff_applications/more_info/741.html
