Chinese milk powder not imported to Finland

18.9.2008

<div>The poisoned milk powder events recently exposed in China have aroused the question of whether milk powder manufactured in China is also being sold in Finland. The importing of milk or milk products to the EU region from China is forbidden. The prohibition also applies to baby milk supplements.</div>

The EU decision on protective measures (2002/994/EC) forbids, with a few exceptions, the importing of all animal food products and feeds from China to the EU. The reason is the observed discrepancies in residue supervision. Chinese dairy production units are not on the list of EU-approved production units.
