Decrees on planning of environmental health care passed

25.8.2006

<div>The Council of State has passed the Decree on National Control Programmes in Environmental Health Care (664/2006) and the Decree on Control Plan for Municipal Environmental Health Care (665/2006). The Decrees have been published in the Finlex database system. </div>

The central authorities responsible for environmental health care; the Finnish Food Safety Authority (Evira), the National Product Control Agency for Welfare and Health (STTV) and the Consumer Agency, are currently preparing a common control programme in environmental health care for the year 2007. Work has progressed swiftly and the control programme will probably be published during the autumn in the authorities' common publication series.

The municipalities shall draw up their food and product safety control plans for 2007 in compliance with previously issued guidelines. The municipalities have the possibility to already prepare for 2007 a single common control plan for environmental health care that contains the plans of several different sectors.

The municipal control plans for 2008 shall be prepared as integrated plans that cover all the different sectors of environmental health care (health protection, tobacco, chemical, food and product safety control).
