Evira's reference laboratory operations are being enhanced

Reference laboratory operations are among Evira's main duties. Their aim is to ensure the reliability of laboratory results and that such results sustain national and international harmonisation. Evira operates as a national reference laboratory in all its research fields: analytics of the microbiological and chemical safety of foods and feeds, diagnostics of animal diseases and plant analytics.

Evira is to develop its reference laboratory operations further
Systematic development efforts were launched in 2010. Taking the needs of Evira's customers, laboratories approved by Evira, into account forms the main foundation for this development.

In 2010, Evira started publishing an electronic reference laboratory newsletter, with plans to publish four issues per year. The newsletter is sent to laboratories approved by Evira. The list of recommended methods will be expanded to include additional methods of research on foods, feeds, and fertilisers, alongside the methods required by law.

Conducting business with Evira made easier for laboratories
Customer service will be improved by harmonising the approval procedures for laboratories operating in different fields of research (food, plant health, fertiliser products, and feed).

In the autumn, the traditional 'Lab Days' event will be held, in conjunction with which a customer survey will be conducted in order to improve Evira's services.

Evira asks that laboratories present their suggestions and wishes regarding the development of operations by e-mail to laboratoriot@evira.fi.

Among the long-term goals is to set up an interactive forum (extranet) through which Evira's reference laboratory customers are able to receive and share information for development of operations. Information required by laboratories and a full introduction to reference laboratory operations can be found at
Evira > About us > Operation areas > Laboratory operations > Reference laboratory operations.
