Inspections completed on half of fur farms
The violations included broken shelves in the cages and some foxes had no shelves at all. Some of the animals had no chewing sticks. In addition, shortcomings were found in one farm in the records maintained of the care provided to the animals. No animals that would have had to be euthanized due to an illness or injury were encountered in the inspections.
The farmers in question have been ordered to rectify the shortcomings by a certain date. A new inspection will be carried out upon expiry of the time limit to verify that the shortcomings have been eliminated.
The rest of the farms will be inspected next week. All violations that are found are reported to the police as required by legislative regulations.
