Public examination of dissertation on fish rhabdoviruses


<p>The fish rhabdoviruses viral haemorrhagic septicaemia virus (VHSV) and perch rhabdovirus (PRV) have been encountered in Finland. VHSV has caused considerable fish mortality and, consequently, financial losses in sea area rainbow trout farms and PRV mortality to grayling fry in inland fish farms.</p>

Tuija Gadd, Lic. V.M., Specialist in Veterinary Medicine, who works at the Veterinary Virology Research Unit of the Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira, will defend her doctoral dissertation in the field of veterinary virology (University of Helsinki, Faculty of Veterinary Science, Department of Biosciences).

The public examination of the dissertation will take place in the Helsinki University Museum, Arppeanum auditorium, Snellmaninkatu 3, on Friday 25 October at noon.
