Scientific risk assessment for 10 years

<p>Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira will host a 10th anniversary seminar on risk assessment and its history in the field of food safety and animal diseases in Finland. The seminar will present risk assessment and its role in the development of control activities. Scientific risk assessment that also considers the associated uncertainty factors is needed for decision-making in the complex circumstances of the modern world.</p>

The first day of the seminar is dedicated to risk analysis and Finnish research in the field of risk assessment. The scientists of Evira's Research Unit give presentations on microbiological and chemical risk assessment carried out at the Unit regarding animal diseases and foodstuffs. International cooperation related to risk assessment will also be addressed.

The last two days of the seminar are reserved for scientific risk assessment training for scientists. This will be the sixth international training event organised by the Risk Assessment Research Unit.

The 10th anniversary seminar will take place 26-28 October 2011 in the Evira House in Helsinki (address Mustialankatu 3, FI-00790 Helsinki), conference room Kalevi C111.
