Research Seminar 15.5.2018: What is risk assessment?

9.5.2018 13:31

Research Professor Jukka Ranta from Risk Assessment Research Unit, at the Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira, will give a presentation on quantitative food-risk assessment and risk modelling.

Quantitative risk assessments are based on the processing of data to form a risk estimate. Random variability and uncertainty associated with statistical data are illustrated using probability models. Such models serve as a bridge between observation variables and the parameters derived from them. Computational methods can form entities in which a 'bridge network' harnesses several complementary data sources. The result can be viewed as a probability distribution of parameters, which can then be used as a tool for calculating the uncertainties associated with risk projections.

The research seminar will be held in Viikki, Helsinki, at the Evira House, Mustialankatu 3, Hall C111,
from 3pm to 4pm on Tuesday 15 May 2018.
The seminar is open to all and does not require preliminary enrolment. The seminar is in Finnish.
