Research Seminar 20.3.2018: Bat rabies

Tiina Nokireki, DVM (PhD), Specialist in Veterinary Medicine, from the Veterinary Virology Research Unit of the Finnish Food Safety Authority Evira, speaks about the presence of lyssaviruses, i.e. bat rabies, in bats in Finland.

The seminar provides information on the monitoring of bat rabies and its occurrence in bats in Finland, the characterisation of various lyssaviruses and the protection provided by currently used rabies vaccines against these strains of bat rabies. The seminar covers the Finnish rabies situation at different times and the prevention of rabies not only in bats but other animal species as well.

The research seminar will be held in Viikki, Helsinki, at the Evira House, Mustialankatu 3, Auditorium C111, on Tuesday, 20 March 2018, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The seminar is in Finnish. The seminar is open to all and does not require preliminary enrolment.
